Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH has launched the handheld modular laser scanner T-SCAN CS and the optical tracker T-TRACK CS. Large objects can be efficiently and accurately digitized. Together with the recognition of active IR markers — e.g., dynamic referencing and motion capture — the optimal fit of the measurement components opens a variety of applications.

The tracker enables a combination of surface and point measurement. The compact size of the tracker and controller box as well as the central cabling makes the system ready for operation within minutes and suitable for mobile use. The high data-processing rate allows high-speed measurements, minimizing the time needed for scanning.

The laser scanner has a high dynamic range for data acquisition on various object surfaces and a fast data rate. Its ergonomic design enables fatigue-free and intuitive scanning. With its light and well-distributed weight, the compact unit is suited for data capture in difficult-to-reach areas. It performs fast, intuitive and precise 3-D scanning.

Applications include design, quality control, rapid prototyping, rapid tooling, reverse engineering, medical applications, archaeology, capture of art/historical objects, production-focused inspection, tool and mold construction, and rapid manufacturing. T-TRACK CS is also available with the optional touch probe T-POINT CS for single-point measurements, e.g., to probe reference points for holes, to align during repositioning and to serve as a portable coordinate measurement machine.
