VisiTech International Ltd. has released the VT-Infinity3 multibeam laser confocal scanner. Its design includes 2500 pinholes that enable real-time imaging speeds up to 1000 fps. Using a multibeam technique lowers peak intensities in the sample, reducing photobleaching and photodamage. Dichroic mirrors and filters self-align and can be exchanged by the user. The intelligent speed control synchronizes the equipment, preventing random striping, field-to-field intensity variations and image streaking. The acousto-optical tunable filter provides a means of selecting multiple laser lines using software. The optional 3D-RT software module makes possible real-time 3-D reconstruction of data.
