LAFAYETTE, Colo., Nov. 18, 2016 — Rocky Mountain Instrument Co. has obtained new production technologies for the manufacture of IR/FLIR lenses used in thermal imaging and IR sensing applications.

Diamond turning capabilities for aspherical and spherical lenses feature sizes ranging from 0.5 to 12 in. in diameter on a wide range of materials including germanium, silicon, zinc sulfide, zinc selenide, calcium fluoride, gallium arsenide, amorphous material transmitting infrared radiation and chalcogenide.

The process for environmentally durable, thorium-free coatings for MWIR 3- to 5-μm and LWIR 7- to 14-μm wavelength regions were also refined. For finished IR/FLIR assemblies, opto-mechanical design and engineering services in Zemax/SolidWorks are also offered. Assembly is available in a Class 1000 clean room, with advanced metrology using a wide range of active alignment techniques.
