Lidar Laser Module
EMCORE Corp.Request Info
The Model 1790 high-power laser module from EMCORE Corp. is a 1550-nm device for lidar and optical sensing, particularly in autonomous driving.
The module was developed for use as continuous-wavelength (CW) coherent optical source for next-generation frequency modulation continuous wavelength lidar systems. Its underlying technology was designed to address demanding applications in industrial sensing and measurement. The 1790 achieves narrow linewidths combined with a high-efficiency coupling scheme to enable high optical output power of 18 dBm, creating a compact, robust solution. Its monolithic design, combined with optimized coupling optics, makes it immune to the mode or optical frequency hopping typically found with single-isolator, external cavity designs.
The lidar technology maintains optical frequency stability over temperature, suppressing false readings. Other applications include materials characterization, strain measurement, terahertz-spectroscopy, interferometry, position and interference measurement, and others.
