SAN JOSE, Calif., March 16, 2023 — Linear Drive Optical CableThe Optical Direct Attach Cable (oDAC) from Hisense Broadband Multimedia Technology Co. Ltd. is an 800-G linear driver optical cable for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.

The device is based on 100-Gb/s/lane optics, eliminating the digital signal processor to reduce power consumption and improve system latency. By leveraging powerful equalization and compensation capabilities, a 5 to 7e pre-forward error correction bit-error floor was achieved over a 50-m OM4 multimode fiber with ~10-dB channel loss, and no uncorrectable error in the system traffic test. Power consumption is as low as 4 W/800-G octal small-form-factor pluggable end.
