Linear Motor StagesThe V-817 series of linear stages from Physik Instrumente LP are three-phase linear motors well suited for precision automation applications such as sensor and camera positioning, laser welding, optical and tactile testing, and wafer processing and inspection.

The devices feature a load capacity of 600 N, travel ranges from 8 to 32 in., and velocities to 3000 mm/s. Guided by robust recirculating ball bearing guides, the 63-mm low-profile design minimizes moving mass and tilting errors. An integrated linear encoder provides <1-nm resolution, and when operated with industrial motion controllers, the stages achieve 10 nm minimum incremental motion, 1-µm bidirectional repeatability, and 2.5-µm accuracy.

Stages can be combined for XY motion through an available platform with a triple M6 hole pattern. Its footprint makes it easy to integrate into compact machine assemblies.
