Liquid Lens Evaluation
Corning Varioptic LensesRequest Info
Varioptic, a business unit of Parrot, has released an evaluation kit that enables camera designers to quickly develop liquid lens camera prototypes.
It combines a proprietary Caspian optical module, Lattice Semiconductor’s ECP3-based HDR-60 video camera development kit, Helion IP cores and a Sony 2.4-megapixel IMX136 sensor.
Varioptic’s electrowetting liquid lens technology enables fast and noiseless variable focus with no moving parts, ensuring low power consumption, high shock resistance and a large dynamic range for focusing from 5 cm to infinity.
The Caspian module, a combination of Varioptic’s Arctic liquid lens and a high-resolution imaging lens, can be implemented on any M12 lens-based camera board.
Helion has developed specific intellectual property blocks to evaluate the performance of Varioptic’s liquid lens technology on the Lattice HDR-60. The kit will be upgraded later this year to handle autofocus in video mode and optical image stabilization based on the company’s Baltic lens family.
