BERLIN, Sept. 22, 2010 — Lumics GmbH has announced the release of a new diode laser for solid-state and fiber laser pumping for thulium, erbium, neodymium and ytterbium. The LuOcean emits either continuous-wave or up to 300-W pulsed power out of a 300- or 600-µm fiber. A collimated free-space beam is also available.

With an ultrasmall footprint and weighing only 400 g, the laser can be built directly without fiber into the laser head in an end-pumped Nd:YAG configuration.

It features a wavelength tolerance of ±3 nm for each absorbing material. Water-cooled base plate and optional Peltier thermoelectric cooling elements for stabilization and fine tuning of the output power and wavelength are available.

It is suitable for use in medical and materials processing applications.
