For use in medical technology, industrial and military applications and available through Laser Components UK Ltd., PD-LD Inc. has released the LuxxMaster fiber-coupled Raman laser that it says is four times smaller and 30% less expensive than its previous models.

The narrowband laser, designed for OEM applications and housed in a 14-pin butterfly package, is well suited for Raman spectroscopy, solid-state laser pumping, fiber laser pumping, flow cytometry and sensor applications.

Using proprietary and patented Volume Bragg Grating technology to stabilize and shape the emission spectrum, the 785-nm laser wavelength is stabilized to within ±0.5-nm accuracy, across the entire operating temperature range from 0 to 50 °C. The full width at half maximum is typically reduced to 0.08 nm, and the noise level is <0.25% rms. A supply voltage of 5 V is required for operation.

Wavelength stability is <5 pm, output power stability is 1%, typical operating current is 1 A, and typical threshold current is 0.43 A. The laser is supplied with a built-in thermoelectric cooler, a USB interface for PC control and an FC/APC connector.

Other wavelengths, such as 532nm, are also available.
