A new range of high-performance interference filters has been released by Omega Optical Inc. The MEGALux optical coatings offer good spectral characteristics on a wide variety of substrate materials using state-of-the-art dual magnetron reactive sputtering (DMRS) deposition technology.

With the DMRS process, the coatings use the latest methods in optical thin-film design and deposition control and achieve precise individual layer thickness, along with forward and backward proofreading of layer execution, leading to lot-to-lot reproducibility.

The coatings are durable and accurate, with cut-on and cut-off variability of approximately 1 nm.

They produce high transmission that can exceed 97% and out-of-band blocking from 300 to 1000 nm, with average optical density of >6. When used with an ideal light source and detector, a signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 10,000:1 is possible, while collecting all available signal.

The hard-coated filters have very steep cut-on/cut-off slopes and are suitable for use in high-volume applications.
