The EC Epiplan-Neofluar series objectives for materials microscopy are available from Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH in H/DIC versions for bright-field and DIC applications as well as HD/DIC, dark-field and Pol versions for polarization-optical observation. The objectives can be used to analyze the structure of weakly reflecting objects like glass, coal and ceramics. For objects with submicron structures, all the image information is retained to the edge of the field. The objectives can eliminate false light from the near-UV to the near-IR, and a constant aperture enables homogeneous illumination to the object field. The company says it has improved the point image polychromatically and monochromatically, and that fewer DIC sliders are required because of the blocked pupil positions.
