MVTec Halcon Embedded for AndroidMVTec Software GmbH has announced a new version of its Halcon machine vision system for Android mobile devices.

The software may be used to develop apps for object or text recognition, for example, optical character recognition (OCR) programs for reading power meters via smartphones.

Other possible applications include recognition of street signs and license plates, as well as parts recognition for industrial plant maintenance.
