SELMSDORF/LÜDENSCHEID, Germany, Dec. 8, 2010 — Foba Laser Marking + Engraving has released MarkUS laser marking software with intuitive and easy-to-use interfaces for the creation of high-quality and precise laser markings.

It is compatible with the majority of the company’s laser marking systems and machines and supports the control of up to three axes, including a rotary axis. It is available in English, German, Spanish, French and Italian. Other languages such as Chinese will follow soon.

A suite of three programs offer several configurable user levels. MarkUS Designer is the easy-to-use graphic design software interface for creating, editing and setting up laser marking jobs. Color codings, floating toolbars and the use of common icons support the intuitive and visual user guidance.

MarkUS Runtime is the intuitive user interface and laser control software for the start, stop and production of laser markings. It provides all status information on both machine and marking jobs and is easy to use as it comes with the same controls as the laser marking system or machine.

MarkUS Administrator is the interface for system setup and configuration.

Intuitive interfaces, easy-to-use graphic design tools and good layout functionalities provide visual user guidance and ensure lean and efficient workflows. Various marking contents and formats (e.g., multiple language fonts; machine-readable codes; several graphic import filters; gray-scale images; complex fillings; advanced text editing; sequence and serial numbering; automatic date, layer, time coding, real-time clock; and online coding of individual data) offer flexibility.

The software is supplied with built-in gray-scale image support for the convenient creation of gray-scale markings, and features add-on capabilities such as remote control via TCP/IP, Profibus or serial communication for increased automation and productivity.

The vision tool option Point & Shoot is a feature for direct mark positioning. It eliminates the trial and error used to align the laser mark to the part. Users visually position the mark on the part with linewidth accuracy. This “what you see is what you get” tool helps reduce fixtures and fixture-related costs, and ensures upfront verification of what the mark will look like and where it will be applied.
