Measurement SoftwareOptoTest Corp. has announced an update to the OP1021 Launch Condition Analyzer software, allowing for mode field diameter (MFD) measurement per TIA/EIA-455-191A and IEC 60793-1-45.

The update to the software package used with the OP1021 and OPL-LCA takes advantage of the unit’s existing capabilities to perform the MFD measurement using the direct far-field measurement technique. The direct far-field method is regarded as the reference test method for determining the mode field diameter of single-mode fiber. This measurement is instrumental in the development and qualification of single-mode fiber, making the OP1021 a valuable asset to any fiber production environment.
