Short-Pulse Ultrafast Laser Offers Higher Power
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 13, 2007 -- The new Micra-10 from Coherent Inc. is the first one-box ultrafast laser oscillator to deliver over 750 mW of broadband output power, the company said.
As with other products in the Micra line, this wide spectral-bandwidth (more than 75 nm from the Micra-10) can be externally compressed to produce pulses in the range of 10 to 15 fs. In addition, Coherent said, the Micra-10 offers the flexibility of center wavelength tunability, as well as user-adjustable spectral bandwidth.
Micra-10 is a one-box laser in which the Verdi green pump-laser and the broadband titanium:sapphire ultrafast oscillator are integrated within a single compact housing for both ease of operation and unsurpassed power and spectral stability, Coherent said.
With its broadband output and high power, the Micra-10 is well-suited to demanding research applications such as high harmonic generation, terahertz imaging, optical coherence tomography, and time-resolved spectroscopy. Compared to the alternatives, the superior reliability and turnkey operation of the Micra simplify the use of ultrafast lasers in these technically demanding applications, the company said.
The Micra line is compatible with a full suite of enabling accessories and options, including radio frequency synchronization, carrier-envelope phase stabilization, pulse shaping and pulse compression, Coherent said.
