Accumold^® is a high-tech manufacturer of precision micro, small, and lead frame injection molded plastic components. Molded parts range in size from 5 cm, with micro features, to parts that are less than 1 mm in size. These complex parts often include tight tolerances measuring only a few microns. Processes include: insert molding, clean room molding, 2-shot molding, and custom automated manufacturing cells. Materials include: PEEK, Ultem, LCP, and most engineered thermoplastics. Markets include: Micro Electronics, Medical, Micro Optics, Sensors, and other emerging technologies. Small Part, Micro Features — Not every part has to be micro for it to be a true micro molded component. Critical components can be larger but require micro features or tolerances that push the complexities to extremes. For example, integrating larger connectors with micro features like fiber-optic lens arrays or parts requiring very thin-wall sections or other micro features like diffractive optics. These types of features can be difficult for traditional molders who are not accustomed to such features.

Lead frame molding and insert molding. In addition to small and micro injection molding Accumold also has experience with lead frame and insert molding. This technology, of overmolding plastic in and around all sorts of media (metals, other plastics, mesh, glass, fabrics, flex circuits) has enabled countless innovations to become reality for our customers. This type of molding can be very advantageous especially when you’re looking to reduce form factors or gain efficiencies in manufacturing.

Precision micro-molding facilities — All our tooling, molding, packaging, and metrology is performed under one roof in our 135,000ft² facility located near Des Moines, IA, US. With 15 acres of property, our plans include expanding our facility to 200,000ft². We are ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 certified. Our plant is completely climate-controlled and has several Class-7 and Class-8 clean rooms.
