The DP71 progressive-scan CCD camera from Olympus Life and Material Science Europa GmbH is suitable for microscopic bright-field and fluorescence imaging applications such as pathology. In live mode, the device provides 1360 x 1024-pixel full-frame images at 15 fps. In still-frame mode, it provides resolution of up to 12.5 million pixels in less than 3 s. The camera acquires color and monochrome images and uses Peltier cooling of the 2/3-in. sensor chip to deliver high sensitivity and low noise at 10 °C below ambient temperature. It includes a PCI bus interface and a C-mount for standard lenses, and supports the company’s cell* family of image acquisition, archiving, analysis and distribution software.
