The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Sample Finder for the Axio Observer microscope from Carl Zeiss AG reduces time to experiment for sample identification.
The sample carrier is identified and sample areas are detected automatically, which accelerates the process of localizing a sample. After placing the sample on the loading position, the AI Sample Finder moves it to the objective with no need to manually move microscope parts. Focus is adjusted automatically, and a high-contrast overview image for fast and convenient navigation is taken within seconds. Intelligent routines reliably identify the sample carrier, regardless of its type. And unusual regions of interest are detected with deep learning algorithms.
In life science research, a good overview image is the foundation for a detailed analysis to make sure all areas can be navigated and accessed directly. The system also reduces phototoxicity because only short illumination of the sample is necessary when performing adjustments and identification of relevant areas.
