ROCKLAND, Mass., April 2, 2013 — Prior Scientific has introduced the LumaSpec 800, a compact microscope illumination spectrometer that provides quantitative spectral data for any microscopy light source.

Using an illumination target in a 3 × 1-in. glass slide format, the device can check microscope illumination at the sample plane. It supplies quantitative and graphical information from 350 to 800 nm with 1.5-nm resolution.

It is suitable for confirming the performance of illumination systems with and without filters in place, and for measuring transmission of filter sets. The LumaSpec 800 also can be used for qualifying the consistency of illumination over time down to milliseconds to match exposure times and to assist with quantitative and/or ratiometric imaging.
