APELDOORN, Netherlands, Feb. 20, 2013 — Avantes has released the AvaSpec-Mini fiber optic spectrometer. Measuring 122 cubic centimeters, it is smaller than a deck of cards. It is the first product in Avantes’ CompactLine, consisting of small integrated spectrometers suitable for OEM applications.

Until recently, design of spectroscopy-based measurement devices was sometimes limited by the size of the spectrometer. The AvaSpec-Mini will fit almost any OEM application. Despite its size, it delivers resolution up to 0.2 nm and features a USB 2.0 interface and four configurable input/output ports. It uses only 250 mA, obtained from the USB port.
