The ultrasmall and lightweight micro-objective from Rainbow Optics Co. is suitable for scanning images and focusing or condensing applications in biotech and fluorescence spectroscopy. The optical system, which is a multiple lens infinity-corrected achromat, provides a numerical aperture of 0.90, magnification of 50x and on-axis resolving power of <1 μm. Weighing only 3 g, the device has a diameter of 12.7 mm and is 13.5 mm long.
