Keithley Instruments Inc. has released its Model 2450 SourceMeter, a source measure unit (SMU) with an interactive touch-screen. The instrument provides the capabilities of I-V systems, curve tracers and semiconductor analyzers.

It combines power supply, true current source, a 6½-digit multimeter, electric load and a trigger controller to help speed lab and benchtop work. The new low current and voltage ranges eliminate the need to add separate low-level instruments to the system, while a built-in help function provides information through the touch screen. Error and event logging are provided for simple diagnostics.

An embedded Test Script Processor (TSP) stores complete test programs into nonvolatile memory, eliminating GPIB (general-purpose interface bus) traffic problems experienced by PC-dependent systems. Users are not constrained by power or channel count limitations, as TSP-Link connections support system expansion with other test script processing instruments.
