SAN JOSE, Calif., March 30, 2021 — Multi-Junction VCSELsFive- and six-junction vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays from Lumentum Holdings Inc. are designed for advanced consumer, automotive lidar, and other 3D sensing applications.

The VCSEL arrays enable low power dissipation, high slope efficiencies, and high optical peak powers compared with existing devices. Optical powers exceeding 2 W per individual VCSEL emitter have resulted in >800 W of peak power from a compact, 1-mm2 VCSEL array. They emit at 940 and 905 nm.
