MERCERVILLE, N.J., July 29, 2010 — Princeton Optronics Inc. has introduced a high-power vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)-based multichip laser module delivering 480 W of quasi-continuous-wave power.

It has four 5 × 5-mm VCSEL chips which are connected in series, each delivering 120 W of output power. The chips are mounted on a copper heat sink that is fan-cooled and integrated with the module.

The module is suitable for illumination and medical applications, and for users who want to employ a ready-made pump for pumping of solid-state lasers. It can be custom-configured for other power levels and other wavelengths.
