HAMBURG, Germany, Feb. 17, 2015 — Olympus FluoView gantry frameTwo new configurations of the FluoView FVMPE-RS series of multiphoton laser-scanning microscopes from Olympus can obtain vivid images 8 mm below the tissue surface, allowing observation of ultrafast biological responses.

One configuration includes a gantry microscope frame (pictured), featuring a stable archlike structure that provides space beneath the objective for experiments of various sizes. The other configuration includes an inverted microscope frame, suitable for cell observation in 3-D cultures where multiple layers of cells are cultured in a petri dish or other similar vessel.

Applications include multiphoton imaging for the life sciences, such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease research.
