MUNICH, Germany, March 29, 2010 — Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.’s Multiskan GO UV-VIS spectrophotometer offers free wavelength selection for 96- and 384-well plates and various types of cuvettes. It features a broad wavelength range including UV area and path-length correction, as well as fast spectral scanning, making it suitable for DNA, RNA and protein analysis.

It supports endpoint, kinetic and spectral scanning assays at fast speeds. Any measurement wavelength between 200 and 1000 nm can be selected at any time with the monochromator-based optical system, which scans the complete spectrum of a sample in <10 s. Temperature-critical assays benefit from the precise temperature control feature.

Automatic self diagnostics at start-up verifies instrument functionalities and continuous runtime control of optical and mechanical functions. Energy use is minimized by an automatic power save function.

The instrument can be controlled as a stand-alone unit with dedicated software for quick and simple cuvette and plate measurements, and demanding applications can be set up using the proprietary and intuitive SkanIt software. Both the internal and PC software are available in multiple languages.
