Oplink's latest high-end protection switch turnkey subsystem solution -- manageable through SNMP protocol via web GUI and CLI consoles over Ethernet or craft RS-232 interfaces -- offers mission-critical (1+1) or (1:1) optical protection against network linkage failures, providing dramatic enhancement to network uptime. Now USERS can operate the unit in both manual and automatic modes with a guaranteed switching time in less than 10 ms upon detection of a fiber fault. UserS can also remotely or locally program-set alarm thresholds, hysteresis, revertive and nonrevertive modes. During A power outage, its auto-latching function guarantees uninterrupted optical path. With its exceptional durability guaranteed over minimum 10 million toggles and MTBF exceeding 20 million hours, this newly optimized switch features excellent insertion loss (0.4dB typical), low crosstalk (<-55dB) and excellent flatness over 1260~1620 nm and 0~70 degree Celsius. A multimode version working within the 850-nm window is also available. Oplink's NET-Ready optical protection sWitch operates independently of transmission rate, modulation format and signal wavelength. It is a means to safeguard a wide variety of optical networks, including Gigabit Ethernet, CATV, point-to-point long haul and metro ring WDM.
