The NFM microscope from Applied NanoFluorescence images individual single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) through their intrinsic short-wave IR fluorescence. The system is suitable for research applications in the fields of physics, chemistry, biomedicine and the environment.

Each 915 × 610-mm system includes a modular inverted fluorescence microscope; optical filters for SWCNT excitation and imaging; an LS-4 fluorescence excitation system with four computer-controlled lasers; optics for controlling excitation beam polarization, intensity and focusing; and a thermoelectrically cooled scientific-grade InGaAs camera for image capture. A short-wave IR spectrometer for fluorescence microspectroscopy is optional.
