TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 23, 2007 -- StellarNet Inc., a maker of miniature fiber-optic spectrometers and accessories for spectroscopic and optical measurements, has announced the NIRX-SR, a "super range" series of spectrometers for the 0.9- to 2.3-µm wavelength range with a 512-element InGaAs photodiode array and high-speed USB-2.0 interface.
The extended range detector operates using a two-stage thermoelectric cooler and includes optics to deliver high spectral efficiency. A 1024-element detector array is available to double the resolution from <16 nm on the 512 model to <8 nm for special spectroscopy applications. The spectrograph optics have no moving parts for shock-proof durability in a truly portable environment, the company said.
Optional fiber-optic accessories are available for chemical analysis of liquids such as the SL1-CUV halogen light source with integrated 1-cm cuvette holder (as seen in photo). Also available are dip probes with replaceable tips of various path lengths (0.5 cm, 1 cm, 2 cm, etc.). Longer path lengths allow for lower concentrations measurement.
For chemical analysis of solids, the RFX1 reflectance fixture with integrated halogen light source allows placement of samples on top in a Petri dish or on a glass plate. For optical spectroscopy measurements, the TXF3 transmission fixture allows adjustment for sample placement between two collimating lens attached via fiber-optic cables to the NIR spectrometer and SL1 halogen light source.
The included SpectraWiz software suite enables a variety of spectroscopy measurements, including "customizable" programs for LabVIEW and direct operation from MS Excel via Visual Basic Automation.
