PREMSTAETTEN, Austria, Jan. 23, 2020 — NIR SensorThe CGSS130 sensor from ams AG is an ultra-sensitive NIR device for mobile 3D optical sensing systems.

The device enables high-performance depth maps for payment, facial recognition, and augmented/virtual reality applications at a competitive system cost. It enables battery-powered devices to run longer between charges while supporting more sophisticated sensor functions. The CGSS130 sensor is 4× more sensitive to NIR wavelengths than other similar imaging sensors and reliably detects reflections from low-power IR emitters in 3D sensing systems.

The sensor also creates the opportunity to implement face recognition in wearable devices and in other products with a small battery, or to enable a new range of applications beyond face recognition.
