MADISON, Wis., March 16, 2016 — NSOM MicroscopeMad City Labs Inc. has announced the MCL-NSOM model near-field scanning optical microscope (NSOM). The aperture NSOM is built on MCL’s RM21 inverted optical microscope, enabling conversion of the system to aperture-less NSOM, atomic force microscopy and fluorescence optical microscopy.

The microscope includes XYZ closed loop nanopositioning for sample and fiber scanning providing sub-nanometer precision and low-noise performance. Six axes of automated positioning are provided, including independent automation for fiber alignment to the optical axis, and are controlled with LabVIEW based software.

The MCL-NSOM includes fiber launch with excitation source, alignment camera, and detection avalanche photodiode (APD) but can also accommodate user ancillary excitation and detection optics.
