Applied Optoelectronic Inc.'s (AOI’s) 400-mW narrow-linewidth pump laser offering is designed for silicon photonics and co-packaged optics in AI data centers. The distributed feedback laser delivers over 400 mW of optical output power at 50 °C. Its narrow linewidth and low noise characteristics enable stable operation at a single wavelength, addressing performance limitations associated with broader-linewidth sources. The output power supports 800G and 1.6T optical links by compensating for coupling, splitting, and routing losses while maintaining thermal margins near switch application-specific integrated circuits. It can be used in applications such as silicon photonics transceivers, shared and external laser architectures, and co-packaged optics for hyperscale AI networking.
