OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada, July 11, 2013 — JGR Optics Inc. has announced the OA5 optical programmable attenuator for research and industrial applications.

The device has an attenuation range of 60 to 100 dB and a resolution of ±0.01 dB for control of output power for bit error rate tests or channel equalization in wavelength-division multiplexing systems.

The OA5 family includes four standard models covering the 1200- to 1700-nm wavelength range for single mode and the 750- to 1700-nm range for multimode. The fifth model is a high-power device for applications requiring up to 30 dBm. An additional model, the Flexcore, covers the 980- to 1100-nm wavelength range.

All OA5 models can be controlled locally using the front-panel keypad or remotely via general purpose interface bus, RS-232 or USB.
