The New Focus Div. of Bookham Inc. has introduced two optical systems. The GuideStar beam-alignment systems for OEMs actively align laser beams with microradian- and micron-level precision. The Granite systems are optomechanical platforms for custom light-management applications with precision stability to microradian pointing. GuideStar features rugged motorized mirrors and industrial-grade control electronics and drivers. The systems can be customized for application-specific requirements, including CW or pulsed beams, UV to IR wavelengths, large or small beam sizes, and varying geometries. The Granite systems produce high stability with proprietary technology that enables precision alignment of free-space optical and fiber-coupling elements.
