Luna Technologies has enhanced its backscatter reflectometer, a failure analysis tool for use by manufacturers of fiber optic components and assemblies. It measures minute reflections with 125-dB sensitivity, a 60-dB dynamic range and 40-µm spatial resolution. The measurement range has been increased from 30 to 300 m with submillimeter resolution, enabling interrogation of longer and more complex optical networks. Updated hardware provides adjustment of the dynamic range from 0 to 130 dB. Features that facilitate and improve data manipulation and storage have been added to the software.
