Thin-film optical filters fabricated using pulsed-plasma-sputtered silicon-oxynitride technology and produced by Satis Vacuum SP100's precision coating system, have been released by York Photonic Technology Ltd. With the technology, York can produce stable, tunable-index thin-film materials onto temperature-sensitive substrates such as special plastics and semiconductor crystals. The company says the tunable indexes enable the production of optical filters with characteristics that are not possible using traditional ion-assisted evaporation systems.
