For telecommunications and CATV testing, GAO Fiber Optics Inc. has introduced the GAO08221 mini optical light source. It works for 40 h on three 1.5-V alkaline batteries while continuously providing stable output power. Available at 1310 and 1550 nm, it delivers a spectral width of ≤10 nm and operates at temperatures from –10 to 60 °C. The compact light source measures 90 × 55 × 16 mm and weighs 80 g. It can be used with the company’s mini optical power meter for maintenance of fiber optic networks and for field work.
