Precitec Optronik has introduced two optical sensors: the Chrocodile E, based on halogen technology, and the Chrocodile X, with xenon technology. The latter provides high luminous power, enabling a maximum scanning rate of 4 kHz on most surfaces. The Chrocodile X has RS-232 and USB interfaces, and an Ethernet port for connection to local networks and the Internet. Applications include topographic evaluations, noncontact thickness measurements, quality control and in-line monitoring. The sensors are suitable for the glass, automotive, plastics, packaging, electronics and semiconductor industries. A single control unit enables measurement of structures of a few microns, as well as of surface topographies up to 25 mm.
