Continuum Photonics Inc. has announced its DirectLight IG series optical switches for testing and automation. The instrument-grade, scalable, nonblocking devices are transparent to protocol and line rate and are available in 16- to 64-port configurations. Based on proprietary beam-steering technology, the switches establish and maintain optical connectivity among numerous channels via a standard open-application-programming interface. They are suitable for manufacturing production, laboratory environments, component and systems development, network monitoring and intrusion detection.
