MPB Communications Inc. has unveiled its RRP-1 remote Raman fiber laser pump, a 1-W, 1450- to 1480-nm source for remote pumping of dense WDM systems. It provides a total launch power of up to 30 dBm. The laser comes in a self-contained module that can be interfaced directly with telecommunications transmission equipment. It is based on a laser diode-pumped, ytterbium-doped, double-clad fiber laser incorporating two cascaded intracavity resonators for wavelength conversion.
