NEWTON, N.J., Sept. 27, 2013 —
The OSA205 optical spectrum analyzer from Thorlabs Inc. operates in the mid-IR region from 1 to 5.6 µm to quickly measure unknown spectra.
The device is based on a Michelson interferometer geometry and comes equipped with a stabilized 632.991-nm reference HeNe laser. It measures the spectral power of narrowband and broadband sources, delivering ±2 ppm accuracy and 1 ppm repeatability. For narrowband sources (<10 GHz), a wavelength meter mode improves the accuracy to 1 ppm and repeatability to 0.2 ppm.
The reference laser measures the interferogram simultaneously with the unknown spectrum to provide real-time compensation for changes in the optical path, achieving a maximum spectral resolution of 7.5 GHz.
