OTSE Integrated Overhead Shelf

IRVINE, Calif., July 30, 2010 — Newport Corp. has announced the OTSE integrated overhead shelf, the newest product in the SmartTable OTS optical table system family. It connects directly to the SmartTable-OTS frame so the entire system has a smaller footprint and a more rigid design, and, the company says, it provides more accessibility to the table than other competitive shelf systems.
This integration facilitates moving even the most complex system. The overhead shelf features a 597-mm-deep surface and 300-lb load capacity to provide sufficient room and stability for even the largest instruments. For added convenience, it features a blank front panel for use in applications that may be sensitive to the electrical fields generated by power outlet strips.
Specially designed front and rear edge guards prevent expensive instruments from accidentally falling onto the table and either causing equipment damage or creating a potentially dangerous laser safety issue.
To provide optimal access or clearance, the new overhead shelf can be mounted in three distinct locations along the depth of the frame: in the front, center or rear. The shelf also features a full 139.7 mm of assembly-height adjustment to improve user accessibility. This allows easier access to frequently used instruments and provides clearance for taller equipment, such as microscopes.
Users have the option of attaching their own power supply strips to the front panel or, for maximum flexibility, they may use the under-shelf t-slots, which also can accommodate hanging shelves or other homemade accessories. The SmartTable OTS and the new OTSE integrated overhead shelves are available in 6-, 8- and 10-ft widths.
