The Obis LG from Coherent Inc. is the newest in a series of compact plug-and-play lasers that offer output powers of several watts.

The first of the new Obis LG models features a green (532 nm) laser that delivers 1 W; the second uses an ultraviolet (355 nm) laser that produces 20 mW. Both use Coherent’s optically pumped semiconductor laser technology, along with harmonic generation to achieve the green or UV outputs.

The new lasers are intended for OEM applications in bioinstrumentation, and can deliver a TEM00 beam with near-perfect mode quality.
