Ophthalmic MicroscopeLeica Microsystems GmbH has announced the Proveo 8 ophthalmic microscope platform for cataract and vitreoretinal surgeries.

An increased depth of field with high resolution provides surgeons with a texture-rich image from the edges of a detached membrane to the periphery of the retina without refocusing. CoAx4 illumination delivers light through four individual beam paths, allowing for the adjustment of the illumination diameter, and resulting in constant red reflex and high-contrast visualization without compromise.

The device is designed to integrate surgical technologies like intraocular lens guidance systems from precise positioning, intraoperative optical coherence tomography to observe ocular tissue microstructures or 3D head-up surgery.
