REDMOND, Wash., March 12, 2014 — Zemax has introduced OpticStudio 14, the latest version of its software for designing 2-D and 3-D models of optical and illumination systems.

Featuring a new graphics engine for design visualization and CAD-like control, the software features ribbon menus for finding tools and settings. A System Explorer sidebar enables fast data entry, and system data editors now feature familiar spreadsheet controls, including cut and paste directly to or from Excel and other programs. It also offers Windows management capabilities for workspace customization.

OpticStudio 14 allows the user to create 2-D and 3-D models with dynamic cutting surfaces, and to view the model as shaded solid or wireframe. Controls allow the user to pan, rotate, tilt and zoom in on every detail. Charts and models can be exported for use in reports and presentations.
