JENA, Germany, Dec. 10, 2012 — Carl Zeiss Meditec AG has introduced its CIRRUS optical coherence tomography (OCT) products. The CIRRUS high-definition (HD) OCT line includes models 5000 and 500. The systems are for diagnosing and managing glaucoma and retinal disease.
The 5000 is optimized for advanced care with FastTrac retinal tracking that enables high-resolution B-scans to be captured in identical locations from visit to visit, providing accurate assessment of change in targeted pathologies. FastTrac compensates for eye motion during scanning and can be turned on to assist with poor fixators.
The system is configured with high-resolution visualization capabilities for applications such as retinal pigment epithelial analysis and ganglion cell analysis to assess glaucomatous loss in the macula that may not be evident in the peripapillary region.
Both the 5000 and 500 feature a modernized OCT platform with faster processing and OCT camera systems, larger viewing monitors, and a wireless keyboard and mouse. Both are supplied with proprietary comprehensive suites of clinical applications for retina and glaucoma and with time-based historical data and normative data comparison analysis tools.
The faster OCT camera enables quick OCT fundus image refresh, making patient alignment more efficient.
