FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 26, 2014 — New Avionics Ice*Meister 9734-REFRUsing light to monitor evaporator coils in refrigerators, the Ice*Meister 9734-REFR defrost controller from New Avionics replaces mechanical timers, suppressing needless defrost cycles and keeping food colder.

The Ice*Meister installs directly on evaporator coils, monitoring their silhouettes with light. When frost sticks, disrupting the silhouette, a defrost cycle is initiated. Once the silhouette returns to its normal shape, the device stops the defrosting process.

The unit controls the defroster to sweep back and forth across the ice formation threshold in real time. The evaporator coils become virtually frost-free, maximizing heat transfer and best operation efficiency.
