Optical Fiber Identifiers
Fujikura Europe Ltd.Request Info
New optical fiber identifiers, used for identifying the light power presence in optical fibers, are available from Fujikura Europe Ltd.
The FID-30R (pictured) includes an optical power meter and succeeds the FID-25R. The FID-31R, an updated standard model, replaces the FID-26R. Both identifiers include three detecting functions: tone, traffic and optical networking unit (ONU). The identifiers offer a 96-dBm sensitivity in tone mode.
Operators can select wavelengths of 1310, 1490 or 1550 nm and detect modulated tones at 270 Hz, 1 kHz and 2 kHz, as well as CW and ONU signals. Users are able to select from three detection sensitivity modes: normal, fast and fine.
Both models include a trigger-operated clamp to macro-bend the fiber in order to leak light, which is then detected by two photo sensors. The fiber identifiers can detect the presence of several kinds of light signal and indicate signal directions.
The identifiers can be used with UV-coated fiber, 0.9-mm-diameter tight-buffered fiber, fiber cord <3 mm in diameter and fiber ribbon with fewer than 12 fibers.
