Optical Fiber Recoating System

STOCKHOLM, March 15, 2016 — Nyfors Teknologi AB has announced the Autocoater 2 XL, an optical fiber recoating system for bare fiber lengths up to 100 mm.

Silicone mold technology provides the longer recoat length while maintaining high productivity and cost advantages as a fully automatic process, independent of operator skill. With two mold types and diameters, the operator can choose to create a uniform diameter recoating that matches the original fiber diameter, recoating with a cross section slightly smaller than the original fiber coating, or recoatings with a larger diameter that overlaps the original coating at each end of the recoat area.

Molds are easily interchangeable by the operator in a few seconds with no re-alignment of the system required. Short curing times of 3 seconds or less are achieved through a highly efficient curing system, capable of processing both standard high-index and low-index recoating materials. Cycle times of 15 seconds or less are featured.
