KIRKLAND, Wash., June 22, 2018 — LensMechanix from Zemax LLC is designed for the Creo CAD platform, enabling mechanical engineers to design mechanical packaging around accurate optical components and validate the impact on the optical performance directly in Creo.

With LensMechanix, mechanical engineers can load all lenses, mirrors, sources, and detectors from the OpticStudio design file as native Creo parts, so they don’t have to spend time re-creating the geometry of the optical components. Mechanical engineers can design the mechanical structure using the complete optical data, including materials, clear apertures, object types, lens equations, coatings, and tolerances.

Running a ray trace through the complete optomechanical system helps identify the impact of the mechanical design on optical performance so that stray light issues, such as image contamination and beam clipping, can be corrected before a physical prototype is made.
